Global value chains are an important component of the existing global economic basis today. The development of global value chains affects the global political and economic landscape. It is not only the foundation and key to the formation of China’s new pattern of high-quality development, but also the material foundation upon which Chinese modernization is built. Marxist political economics provides the theoretical tools for understanding global value chains. Realizing the dynamic and complete construction of global value chains and forming a leading and efficient radiation network of global value chains through integrating value chain nodes of multiple elements is the objective and essential requirement of Chinese modernization; and the construction of global value chains throughout Chinese modernization will certainly create a new development form of human social civilization.
