In April 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the thematic education work conference for learning and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and put forward clear requirements for making greater efforts to carry out investigation and research. In order to effectively implement the requirements of the thematic education and further strengthen the investigation and research, the national research groups of the Academy of Marxism went to a number of leagues and cities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to carry out investigation and research on the themes of “Ecological Civilization Construction of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era,” “Enhancing the Political and Organizational Functions of Party Organizations,” and so on.

From July 22 to 26, Xin Xiangyang, Party Secretary and President of the Academy of Marxism, led a group to Hinggan League and Xilingol League to carry out investigation and research of national conditions. Zhu Xiaojun, Member of the Party Group and Vice-Chairman of the Federation of Social Sciences of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Liu Zhong, Deputy Director of the Working Committee of the National People’s Congress of Hinggan League, and others accompanied the group with the investigation and research. The national research group firstly went to Ulanhot Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. of Jingye Group to investigate the green, energy saving and environmental protection industrial upgrading projects including blast furnace energy saving and environmental protection, gas recycling power generation, sewage treatment and so on, then to the Wulanmudu grasslands of Horqin Right Front Banner to investigate the construction of infrastructure and protection of the grassland ecosystem, and also to Duolun County, Zhenglan Banner, etc., to investigate the comprehensive management of grassland and sand, return of farmland to forests and grasses, and other work. The national research group also had several discussions with local authorities.

From July 12 to 16, Lin Jianhua, Vice-President of the Academy of Marxism, led a group to Hinggan League and Tongliao City to carry out investigation and research on national conditions. Zhu Meng, Member of the Party Committee and Vice-President of Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, and Jiao Gangwei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department of Tongliao City accompanied the group with the investigation and research. The national research group went to Erlongtun Organic Agriculture Co., Ltd. of Horqin Right Middle Banner, Haridaobu Gacha of Bayan Hushu Town, and Museum of Horqin Right Middle Banner to investigate the party building of the “two new organizations,” as well as situations of party building to lead the rural revitalization, grass-roots publicization of ideological culture, and other work, and to the Kailu County Red and Dried Pepper Industry R&D Center, Xiaochengzi standardized demonstration orchard and corn demonstration base, Center for Party and Community Service of Kailu Biomedical Development Zone, Tianyi Nursing Home, Shiji Tiancheng Company, museums and other places to investigate the high-quality party building to lead the rural revitalization, party building to lead the high-quality development of social organizations, etc., and held a symposium in which the national research group had an in-depth discussion with the relevant departments on strengthening the political and organizational functions of the party organizations.

From July 10 to 14, the research group of the Academy of Marxism went to Bayan Nur City and Ordos City to carry out investigation and research of national conditions. They visited the Management Area of the Ulan Buh Desert located in the Dengkou County, the Yellow River Sanshenggong Water Conservancy Hub Project, modern industrial demonstration park at the south bank of the Wuliangsu Sea, the Wuliangsu Sea Nature Reserve, the Ordos Institute of Carbon Neutrality, the zero-carbon industrial park in Ordos, and the Kubuqi Desert, etc., to learn the experience of the transformation of the local industrial structure, photovoltaic sand control and governance of water ecology in desert.

Through the investigation and research, members of the research group deepened their understanding of the CPC’s innovative theories, enhanced their recognition of the strategic positioning of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to build a firm ecological security barrier in the north of China, and developed their research ideas.
