Important progress has been made in the study of the history of CPC ideology, but there are still some shortcomings. It is necessary to continue to construct empirical research norms that are more in line with the attributes of the research subjects and the historical situations. By identifying all the attributes of the research subjects, we can present the situation behind the CPC’s ideological and behavioral activities, revealing an academic approach for the study of the history of CPC thought. This not only requires promoting the objectification of the research subjects from the level of historical epistemology but also reducing and avoiding “mirror image” research based on falsified historical situations. Moreover, during the research process, the historical norms must be strengthened to form an integrated operating procedure for empirical research that links academic history, topic-setting orientation, and criticism of the historical materials. It should be pointed out that the establishment of empirical historical research is an intermediate link, but not the endpoint, in improving the scientific level of research on the history of CPC ideology.
